This is a pretty unusual piece of silver plate. It is my belief that this is Indian silver plate judging by the workmanship and styling. A little bit hard to ascertain its intended purpose. On one hand it looks like it could be an open salt cellar, also useful as an incense burner or ashtray. Perhaps you would have some other use for it? A trinket bowl etc. or just a lovely decorative item. I’ve included rulers in several of the photos for scale it is in excellent vintage condition.
