This is the rare 1866 edition of Shakespeare's First Folio. This is the first truly accurate "exact" copy of the 1623 original available to the public.

While an original 1623 First Folio is worth millions, this 19th-century to folio is the first facsimile to use photo-lithography, a groundbreaking technology at the time.

Photo-lithography allowed for precise reproduction of the original pages, including any irregularities, which was crucial for studying the text's original form.

This book has spine damage, frayed corners, and foxing, the spine is in poor condition as well as the first several pages.

The 3rd and 4th pages are separated as they are cut at the original binder.

The title page with the illustration of Shakespeare is attached with minor tears at the edges.

One page tear was taped with scotch tape which has browned over the years - see photo 11.

This book measures approx 17" x 10"

The book weighs over 11 lbs.

Shipping:  This will be double boxed with bubble wrap.

Throughout the book the pages are brittle as several pages have tears mostly small from the edges, but most of the pages are in fair readable condition with foxing as expected with age.
