Antique Miniature Sad Iron
Cast Iron Construction with Raised Anchor Mark
Late 19th to Early 20th Century
This antique sad iron, also known as a flat iron, features a solid cast iron construction typical of the pre-electric era. The top of the handle is distinguished by a clear raised anchor mark, a classic identifier for decorative and functional housewares of the period. Its compact size suggests it was likely utilized for detailed pressing of lace, collars, and sleeves, or potentially served as a salesman's sample or a child's toy iron.
• Heavy-duty solid cast iron body with integrated handle casting
• Distinctive raised anchor symbol embossed on the handle grip
• Pointed prow and flat rectangular heel design for specialized pressing tasks
• Authentic aged patina showing decades of natural oxidation
Condition: Good antique condition with a heavy natural patina and surface oxidation throughout. The cast metal shows characteristic pitting and textural irregularities consistent with its age and manufacturing process. There are remnants of green felt on the rear face and handle, likely added for display protection. No cracks or structural repairs are visible.
