Mt.Zion Institue in Winnsboro, SC. It was a school where the sons of wealthy 

planters went to school. It was called a prepratory school not a military acacdemy as 

so  many were. 

It was around until 1866 when it burnt down but was rebuilt. 

It is now under the care of a group that hopes to restore the buildings. 

I have only seen one other button on here for sale on ebay. 

You can see this button on page 347 SU444 in Alberts button book.

I try to put as much information with my auctions as I can. Knowing what you are buying

is  important. 

The button has no back makers mark it is plain.
