This guy has to be the biggest FOMO candidate among Leaf Football Cards this week. It's hard to get a short print of his at the prices we're use to let alone for a 1/1 auto, real deal, not a pre-proof or non auto. This is a chance to get his latest 1/1 card and one of the coolest looking in my opinion. I didn't like the PayDirts right away but then I came across the purple /2 and these black and white /1 and just like most of the stuff Leaf does, it really grew on me. If you'd like any other pictures of this, or have any questions about the card or Ryder Lyons prospect information please don't hesitate to reach out! That goes for any football prosepects really especially if you see their card on my ebay. I have a ton of cards not posted on here yet just due to how volatile the market for leaf is especially lately. I have a lot of 1/1s and Gold 1/1s autos and non autos, QBs, WRs, RBs, Defense... Even O Line. I am strictly a Leaf Football collector so that's the only rub. Anyways! Thanks for your time, and feel free to check out the scouting report i have below! Thanks again!
Ryder Lyons is a Junior in Highschool who actually is gradutating early. At the end of this season he will be done with High School and headed off on his two year mission for his church much like most BYU recruits. He Is trying to get an early start to avoid being a 28 year old rookie like John Beck..who?? Exactly!!
He is about 6 foot 2 and 220 pounds so he is built like a tank and really hard to bring down in the pocket. His best trait is definitely his ability to improvise when the play breaks down. He has that "gamer" mentality where he never thinks a play is dead and he will scramble around to find an open guy or just tuck it and run for a first down himself. He is super accurate when he is on the move and has a quick release that lets him fit the ball into tight windows. He is the kind of player that thrives in chaos and makes those "wow" plays that you usually only see on Saturdays.
His fit with BYU and Coach Roderick:
This is a massive get for Kalani Sitake and offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick. Coach Roderick loves QBs who can process the game and make smart decisions but he also likes guys who can extend plays with their legs which is exactly what Ryder does best.
BYU runs a balanced pro style offense that uses a lot of RPOs and play action which fits Ryder perfectly since he is a threat to run every time he touches the ball. Since Ryder is planning on a mission he wont actually be on campus until 2027 so he will likely take over the starting job in 2028 after Bear Bachmeier.
The way Roderick develops QBs is top tier and Ryder has the highest ceiling of any commit they have had in a long time. He is going to be a superstar in Provo once he gets back and settles into that system.
