This beautiful antique quilt is lovely.

Originating from the North East of England, the style is known as a Strippy Quilt. It has lived in the same home for over a century and dates to around 1900 or a little earlier.

The pink striped panels are floral with tiny flower motifs. Typical of Northern quilts, the stitching consists of circles and swirls.

Measures approx. 200 x 210cm

The front side of the quilt is in good condition; there is a tiny tear ( pictured) of about 1.5cm. The back of the quilt, which is entirely white has several areas of damage but they are small and do not affect the front. The bedspread has been stored for more than 60 years in a country house linen cupboard so would benefit from a professional dry clean. This is reflected in the price.

For a display piece to hang over the end of a vintage bed, it is perfect. It is an antique and a piece of social history being handmade and any buyer should consider that this is a collectors piece.

I am listing many beautiful textiles from the same source. So English Eccentric!
