Provenance: from the Macclesfield Library: The dispersal of the great library once held at Shirburn Castle, Oxfordshire, and formed by the 1st and 2nd Earls of Macclesfield in the 18th century.

Laurentius (Lorenz) Ingewaldus Elingius (d. 1688), professor at the University of Uppsala, authored one of the earliest comprehensive histories of the Greek language printed in northern Europe.
