Original 1930s to early 1940s Art Deco Wedding Dress. The outer layer dress is made of a finely woven plain weave semi sheer fabric and the solid inner layer is a taffeta type fabric. Tucked border trim around the bodice adds a luxurious touch. The shoulder area is reinforced (to maintain shape) by a horsehair type braid inside the shoulders. It fastens up the back with 38 buttons; it has no other closures. The dress was more than likely a custom dress made for a bride.
Bust-30" (fully extended it might accommodate a small 31/32" bust)
Waist-26"
Hips - best for 38" or less
Length-60" (shortest part of the hem in the front) - dress is longer in the back than the front
The dress is in very nice condition considering its age; noted flaws include:
Some pin holes near the bottom
Tiny hole at left shoulder (see photo)
Fraying at delicate neckline (see photo)
Tiny amount of fraying to button loops on back
Hem area is slightly uneven due to damage (some tears and minor damage)
Light soil/dirt present at bottom of dress
Underskirt has some light staining near the bottom - there are no other obvious stains on other areas of the dress
