Vintage Miniature Thomas Sully Warner Woven Label Co. Artex Silk Woven Jacquard Tapestry

woven tapestry of Thomas Sully's painting "The Torn Hat".

The original painting, created in 1820, portrays a young boy with a straw hat that has a tear in it. This tapestry reproduction was made by W.W.L. Co in 1969

Howard Hufschmid designed "masterpieces" during the 42 years that he worked at Warner Woven Label Co. as the Chief Textile Designer.

They were produced each year, normally attached to a calendar, and sent to their VIP customer base. It took several months to actually make the design and then supervise the card-cutting so the label would look perfect. They ran from 1959 to around 1990

Stewart Warner would pick the painting that he wanted designed.

A limited number were made each year and the cards to reproduce more were destroyed after each weaving so that no more could be produced

The items I sell are between 40-120 years old. They will have signs of wear. Please carefully examine photos.

All items sold are vintage finds sourced from estate sales and thrift stores in the Hollywood area of Southern California.

I do my best to catalog any flaws I find in the description of the item.

I do not accept order cancellations for any reason other than I have not shipped the item in the time I promised

Your purchase helps me continue to fund my artistic work as a photographer in Hollywood California. It also helps me to feed my increasingly finicky cat who now only wants the most expensive cat food
