This 1973-1974 Fender Telecaster Deluxe shows considerable signs of use, but is highly original and boasts a pleasant, aged tone.

Features include an ash body, a 3-bolt 1-piece maple neck with micro-tilt mechanism, a nut width of 40.7mm (measured), and a thin neck profile. The pickups are wide-range humbuckers (front and rear) developed with the involvement of Seth Lover, the developer of Gibson's first humbucking pickup, the "PU-490" (commonly known as "P.A.F."), and controls via a 3-way toggle switch + 2-Volume/2-Tone.

The Telecaster Deluxe, released in 1973, features several unique specifications for its time, including a contoured body back for a comfortable fit, screwless Schaller Rotomatic tuners, a gentle 9.5-inch fretboard radius to prevent string buzzing during high-position bending, wider frets, and a 6-way saddle bridge that allows for individual string height and octave tuning with slightly narrower string spacing.

The neck date and verifiable pot dates are both 1973, and the pickup dates (front and rear) are both 1974. There are no signs of wiring repairs or repairs to cracks/peeling in the wood. There are some dents and scratches commensurate with its age, and the paint is peeling on both the 1st and 6th string sides of the neck.

The neck is almost perfectly straight, the truss rod is functioning well, and the nut and frets are original. While the original wide frets have worn down considerably, making some areas difficult for bending, there is currently no extreme buzzing or dead spots.

With its two humbuckers, individual controls for each pickup, gentle fretboard radius, and thick frets, this guitar shows an awareness of Gibson products in many aspects. However, the ash body and bolt-on neck offer a pleasant, moderately compressed yet well-toned, responsive acoustic sound. This guitar is recommended for those seeking a guitar with a different kind of humbucker appeal than Gibson, and a dignified look that comes from years of use.
