Card details:
Another deluxe grading by HHA, who have deemed this card historically significant. Authenticated, graded, and placed in an attractive and protective acrylic display case with a label worthy of the card.
ABOUT THE PLAYER/FEATURE:
Connor McDavid is a Canadian centre and captain of the Edmonton Oilers, widely regarded as the most dominant player of his generation. Drafted 1st overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, McDavid quickly became the face of the franchise thanks to his unmatched speed, vision, and playmaking ability. Before joining the NHL, he starred for the Erie Otters of the OHL from 2012–2015, where he scored 285 points in 166 games and won the CHL Player of the Year in 2015, along with two CHL Scholastic Player of the Year awards. His number 97 was retired by the Otters in 2025, cementing his junior legacy. In the NHL, McDavid has already won three Hart Trophies, five Art Ross Trophies, four Ted Lindsay Awards, and a Conn Smythe Trophy. He is the fastest player in the salary cap era to reach 500 points and continues to redefine offensive production. ESPN described him as “an offensive juggernaut since entering the NHL as the No. 1 pick in 2015”. His significance to the Oilers is often compared to Wayne Gretzky’s impact in the 1980s, and his Erie Otters years are remembered as the foundation of his meteoric rise.
Contemporaneous cards, cards issued during the athletes playing career, consistently hold and increase in value more than other cards. This is not to denigrate tribute cards made years later as some of those cards are amazing too, but cards from the time the player was active hold both the most financial value and historical value.
The photo is a photo of the actual card so please take a good look at the card and pay attention to grading. But please also note that the back of the card label will have a certification and copy protection holographic label on the back of the label (the empty spot on the back of the label will be filled, we omit it here for security reasons).
Combined shipping is available.
Tens of thousands of unlisted cards so if you have a request, particularly from the late 80s to the 2000s, let us know and we can check our stock.
IMPORTANT NOTES ON GRADING AND BACKGROUND ON HHA:
HHA is part of HHA Grading and Reclamation (BC Business Registry 725858229bc001) which began as a group for hockey historians and collectors who initially were focused (and still are) on finding and releasing to the public on Youtube free video of old hockey games 20 to 70 years old. Recently (2024) HHA began focussing on providing a new type of trading card grading system with collectors in mind rather than investors.
HHA was never intended to compete with PSA et al directly, but to provide an inexpensive yet (in our opinion) superior alternative to PSA et al for collectors tired of being robbed by the high grading fees charged by PSA. We want to make getting your cards graded more affordable, and we want to make sure historically important cards that may not have a high dollar value with investors gets the attention they deserve regardless of their assessed value.
Recently HHA moved to include certification and a webpage for verification, but our focus is primarily on cards worth less than $250 and usually less than $50 where grading is not cost effective, hence these cards are seldom graded at all, which has left a hole in the market and more concerning historically significant cards (especially from the 80s-00s) were not getting graded at all even Hall of Fame inductees. To address this problem HHA began their "reclamation" project which actively seeks out historically significant mid to low value cards, buys them, grades and labels them, and resells them at low prices with the attention and dignified presentation they deserve. This came about as we recognized so many historically important cards were not getting graded and slabbed simply because of their assessed market value. Our Reclamation Project seeks to remedy this problem by buying up historically and artistically significant cards, grading them, labelling them, slabbing them, and reselling them at low prices.
HHA's beautiful card labels are for easy identification of licensed cards and to aid sorting, but should not be considered an endorsement or affiliation with or from any professional sports league or its teams. We sell only cards that have been licensed by the relevant professional leagues/teams and our labels reflect that. The only exception is HHA's limited edition WHA commemorative cards, as the WHA name and logo trademarks were all abandoned long ago and are thus public domain.
