Bertil Vallien (1938–) has designed many classics for the Swedish glassworks in Kosta, Boda, and Åfors and is one of the most well-known artists working in glass.

One of Bertil's most well-known series is the "Boda Penguins" from the 1970s. It consists of three figurines of different sizes. The rounded birds were hand-blown and then rolled in polychrome glass powder. On the surface, they were marked with a Boda or Kosta label. As stated above, this is the largest of the three sizes and the penguin is absolutely gorgeous and needs a new home!

I lived in Stockholm, Sweden from 1995 until 2011.
I became enamored with Swedish crystal and collected a bit.
I became acquainted with Bertil and his wife Ulrica Hydman-Vallien,
another of Kosta Boda's best-known artists.

I guarantee the provenance of everything I sell.
