2006 Porsche Boxster Convertible

For consignment, a 2006 Porsche Boxster convertible with a title verified 79,847 actual miles. It was recently announced that Porsche will stop making the Boxster and Cayman and if it follows suit to the current trend for 914's, this car is destined for collectability.

Exterior
It can be argued that Boxsters look good in any color, but we would put black at the top of the list. Especially with the top down, you can see the influence of the historic 550 RS model. side intake ducts and all. Subtle, pontoon hips rise above descending horizontal panels front and rear and the curvature captures the light while the understated rising wing and center exit exhaust capture the imagination of onlookers and potential owners. Flush tail lights cap the rear corners while the headlights present a familial likeness to the 911. 18-inch wheels carry staggered sized 40 series ZR rated tires, here with a late 2020 date code. Imperfections include a healthy peppering of rock chips up front, a spot of damaged paint on the decklid, chips on the door, rock spray on the wheel arches, some former repair on the edge of the front apron, and chin scrapes.

Interior
Smooth black door panels wear sculpted silver handles and electric window switches which on the driver's side, shows some peeling of the plastic coating. Up front, inviting black leather bucket seats await, the driver's side showing some slight wear and indentation. Our silver and black motif continues on the well designed steering wheel which leads to a simple and efficient instrument cluster with a throwback font as a nod to the 550. Straight forward and organized is the center stack housing integrated push buttons for the A/C and AM/FM/multi CD unit, all fronted by a stout black shifter with appropriate patina and a stitched boot. Black carpet below presents nicely while the front trunk and rear one show a touch of use but otherwise intact.

Drivetrain
The mid-mounted engine is a 2.7 liter Boxer 6, putting out 240 horsepower and mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Power is routed to the rear wheels and 3.55 gears.

Undercarriage
Interlocking plastic belly pans all appear to be in great shape and any painted component behind them has lost some of the black, now presenting a more mottled pattern. Of course, the car is equipped with power disc brakes all around and Macpherson struts on the front and rear independent suspension. Dual exhaust flows a short distance to original equipment mufflers which send pipes that meet in the middle and exist through a contoured tip which would benefit from a good polishing.

Drive-Ability
Quick, balanced, and giggle provoking, it's no wonder why buyers will risk the disdain of 911 fanboys for the experience! In the Porsche club, however, you'll be on an even playing field. The car handles as if on rails and 240 horses is more than enough for fun. Icing on the cake, all functions operate as intended and we glide this future legend back to the mall. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.

Look Ma, no fried egg headlights! As the Boxster evolved, so too did its styling, becoming even more streamlined and slightly aggressive. Unlike the 914, it was never sold as a Volkswagen and its VIN will get you a coveted spot into the Porsche Club of America. But its performance will be the true gift and presents an economical entry into the world of highly capable sportscars.
