1956 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria 2 Door Hardtop
For consignment, a 1956 Ford Crown Victoria 2 door hardtop with a title verified 21,461 actual miles. This car comes off some fresh restorative work from a well known and much respected shop in Virginville, Pennsylvania.
Exterior
With a blending of Peacock Blue and Colonial White this car takes classic 50's configuration to a new level. The two tone layout is bordered by the use of a chrome side spear swoop, chrome window surrounds which culminate in the legendary picnic basic band of chrome that bridges the roofline. From the front of the hood cloisonné shield, to the jet age hood ornament, and Fairlane scripted badging add to the artful design. On the back, the rear is graced with a Continental kit, nice and wide and housing a metal two tone white and blue tire case. Exhaust tips are through the bumper back here as well, an epic design element that never gets old! Wide whites with dish caps and more shields are sitting on all 4 corners, with a ring of body matched paint in the steel wheels. Imperfections include random paint chips throughout, an area of oxidation under the slightly pitted chrome of the bumper, blistering on the door and other areas, peeling and uneven paint on the fender skirt, and a number of edge chips.
Interior
We open the doors to find a handsome layout of gray, white, silver, and Peacock Blue in wonderful shape and the driver's door adorned with an electric window switch panel. The split bench is a showy masterpiece of diamond stitched gray inserts in white framing and the matching armrest with cup holders is a nice touch. The seat shape, materials and condition is mirrored in the back and it's all over a clean mottled gray carpet. Up front, it's the Peacock Blue that dominates with hard, glossy surfaces and gauges tucked under an arching cove and within a white panel. In the center, there's an AM radio and A/C panel and the perforated headliner above is bisected by the bottom side of the picnic basic trim. Our trunk has a vinyl plaid mat over the steel floor with a cutout that is home to a spare wheel.
Drivetrain
An impressive engine awaits under the hood, obviously not original but certainly clean and show worthy. Our consignor states it's a 428ci V8 and is fuel injected. It's mated to a C6 3-speed automatic transmission that routes power to the Ford 9" in back. A/C, power brakes, and power steering are on board.
Undercarriage
Super clean underneath with fresh components including dual exhaust through stainless mufflers, a fresh looking gas tank, and spotless drive shaft and axle. This car has four wheel power disc brakes and suspension consists of coil springs up front and leaf springs in back and bushing all around looks fresh. Knuckles are free of grease and grime and the frame rails are clean and dry.
Drive-Ability
This stately car comes to life with eager idling and we roll the relatively fresh tires onto the test loop.
