No handwriting or marks. No tears or turned down pages. Body is starting to pull away from hardback. Some browning from tape residue that was used on dust jacket when applying mylar to preserve the book's dust jacket.  Please see all photos as they help in the description and ask if in doubt.

Passed down in the family, this is a hard to find First Edition of this book in this condition. Being a children's book, many did not survive or are damaged. 

Highly illustrated in black and white but mostly color illustrations

Marian Foster Curtiss was the illustrator and author of this book, but went by the pen name, Mariana.
