- Depicts the legendary harness racing horse Maud S. (1874–1900), a light-red chestnut mare renowned for her speed in harness racing. The print commemorates her record time of 2:10 ¾ for a one-mile race. Over her six-year career, she lowered the world record for the mile seven times. She was sired by Harold and out of the dam Miss Russell. At the time of this record, she was owned by William H. Vanderbilt, Esq., the prominent railroad tycoon. He reportedly refused a cash offer of $100,000 for her.
- "Presented by COBURN WHIP COMPANY, Windsor, N. Y." The Coburn Whip Company was a 19th-century manufacturer in Windsor, New York, founded by Adin Coburn in the 1850s.
