This engine is utilized in China's J-20 "Mighty Dragon" and J-35A fighter jets. The model is designed for educational or display purposes with battery operated high-simulation model features such as movable fan blades and cut-away components to demonstrate operational engine mechanics.

The Chengdu J-20 stealth fighter is transitioning to the domestically produced WS-15 high-thrust afterburning engine, enabling sustained supercruise without fuel-intensive afterburners and boosting its maximum speed to around Mach 2.55. Early J-20 models used Russian AL-31 engines, later switching to the improved WS-10C before adopting the advanced, high-thrust WS-15 for the J-20A variant.

The Chengdu J-20 "Mighty Dragon" is China’s premier, in-service fifth-generation stealth air-superiority fighter, developed by Chengdu Aircraft Corporation for the PLAAF to counter U.S. air power. As of early 2026, over 300+ units are in service, with production ongoing, often featuring WS-10 engines, while newer variants (J-20A/S) adopt the indigenous WS-15 for enhanced supercruise and speed.
