The 2022 J-45 Standard VS has arrived. The J-45 is a classic and popular Gibson acoustic guitar, a best-selling model that has been in continuous production for over 80 years since its introduction in 1942. Each decade has its own unique characteristics, but the round-shoulder style J-45 from 1942 to 1969 has remained popular thanks to its wild, bold, and distinctive sound and presence.
The body top is made of spruce, the sides and back are mahogany, the neck is mahogany, and the fingerboard and bridge are rosewood. The Grover 102N Rotomatic tuning machines work well, but the plating shows some tarnishing.
The small pickguard and one-ring rosette are modeled after early 1950s models. The nut width is 43.8mm, the scale length is approximately 628mm, and the neck shape is slim taper.
The nut is made of black TUSQ, and the saddle and bridge pins are also made of TUSQ.
Equipped as standard with L.R. Baggs "ELEMENT VTC" active pickups. Equipped with volume and tone controls, these pickups are easy to use for live performances and recordings, and are renowned for their practicality.
This instrument was manufactured in 2022, making it approximately four years old. At first glance, it appears to be in excellent condition, but there are visible scratches and scuffs associated with normal use. There is a rice-grain-sized scratch near the bottom right of the top, and other sesame-sized scratches can be seen near the sound hole and on the side of the fingerboard near the 6th string. There are also several small dents and scuffs on the side of the body, and buckle scratches and scuffs can be seen on the back. There are no dents or scratches on the back of the neck, which does not interfere with playability. There are also no signs of crack repairs in the wood.
The instrument is well-tuned, with the string height at the 12th fret being 2.2mm for the 6th string and 1.6mm for the 1st string. There is ample saddle rest and ample fret height. The truss rod is also in perfect working order, so you can use it maintenance-free for the time being.
The sound is typical of modern J-45s: clear, slightly firm, and well-balanced with distinct string definition. It has good volume and volume, and the response and balance are excellent even when played with your fingers, making it perfect for accompanying vocals.
The neck is comfortable to hold, making this an excellent electric acoustic guitar with excellent playability, and its sound balance is thought to be a good match for modern music.
