The design is carved through multiple layers of lacquer in a traditional relief technique, featuring a lake or river surrounded by trees and an old junk boat playing a musical instrument.
This example dates to the Republic period of China (circa 1920s–1940s) and was made for the export market. It features original brass mounts at the rim and foot and a glazed blue interior insert
