This electric mandola is a hard-to-find type of instrument in good playing condition that can use some TLC. It's unmarked, but similar ones found online are said to be made in Japan in the 1960s by Teisco or Kawai. They were marketed under different names, "Bruno" and "Kent" being a couple I've come across. You can find used electric mandolins on eBay or Reverb, but mandolas are rare, and solid body electrics are rarer still. The post-war history of Japanese instrument making is complex, but anybody interested in this mandola will probably know more about that history than I do.

The single pickup on this mandola works well, as you can hear in the video. The tone and volume knobs turn smoothly and do the job during amplification. It's structurally sound, but it definitely needs a professional setup. The fingerboard is radiused. There is play wear on the frets, and a fret crowning may be in order. There's a slight concave bow in the neck that probably can be remedied with work on the frets and the bolt-on neck. It's missing the cover plate for the tailpiece. The bass side tuners are a bit hard to twist, but the treble side ones are fine. It could use a better bridge, which should be added during setup work. It's currently strung with GHS Custom Shop Specialty Strings, 010, 016, DY26, DY40.

All in all, this is a rare instrument that any rocking mandolin player would love to bring back to its glory. I added a brief video that eBay has to review, so it might not be visible immediately. (Don't judge the quality of the mandola by my lousy playing! lol)

Body seems to be maple. The neck is mahogany. Fingerboard is probably rosewood.
