DESCRIPTION:
Cinnamomum verum (also called real cinnamon or Ceylon cinnamon) is an evergreen tree, a species of the genus Cinnamon of the Laurel family. Cinnamon, a spice, is obtained from the bark of the tree.
His homeland is Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) and South India. Less valuable varieties are also cultivated in Indonesia, Vietnam, China and Madagascar.
Botanical description
Height — 10-15 m.
The leaves are opposite, on short petioles, oval-oblong, obtuse or short-pointed, 7-18 cm long, leathery, with 3-7 main veins.
The flowers are collected in panicles, greenish in color and with an unpleasant odor.
The fruits are purple berries with a diameter of 1 cm with a single seed.
