Purchased them NEW in 1993 at the Bavarian Inn. I'm cleaning off the shelves. Great nostalgia item for those who love all things Frankenmuth. Really nice condition. Some history below:
Frankenmuth Brewery is one of the oldest breweries in Michigan, with a rich history dating back to the mid-19th century.
Founding and Early Years
- 1857: John Matthias Falliers established the first brewery in Frankenmuth.
- 1862: Cousins William Knaust and Martin Heubisch founded the Cass River Brewery, marking the beginning of commercial brewing in the area.
- 1874: The brewery was purchased by Johann Geyer and renamed Geyer Bros. Brewing Co.
Challenges and Changes
- Prohibition Era: The brewery survived Prohibition by producing malt extract, which was often used for home brewing.
- 1986: Geyer Bros. ceased operations due to financial difficulties.
- 1987: The brewery was purchased by Ervin Industries and Ferdinand M. Schumacher, but a fire destroyed much of the facility that same year.
Modern Era
- 1990: Randall E. Heine acquired majority ownership and expanded production, distributing beer across 25 states.
- 1996: An F3 tornado severely damaged the brewery, leading to another closure.
- 2003: After a seven-year hiatus, the brewery reopened with a new 27,000-square-foot facility, featuring a restaurant and event space.
- 2009: Anmar and Haithem Sarafa purchased and revitalized the brewery, continuing its legacy as a craft brewery.
Current Operations
Today, Frankenmuth Brewery offers a variety of beers, including traditional German styles and innovative craft brews, while also serving as a popular dining destination.
