Estate sale find, vintage original Early Seattle WA History Childrens Book Pigtail Days in Old Seattle by Sophie Frye Bass with Dust Jacket, 1st Edition, 1937.
Sarah Sophia Frye (1867-1947) was the third child of George Frederick Frye and Louisa Catherine Denny Frye.
On December 14, 1908, in Seattle, she married Daniel Waldo Bass. She was nicknamed Sophie by her siblings and Opie by her nephews.
Writing under the name Sophie Frye Bass, she wrote two children's books about the early history of Seattle: "When Seattle Was A Village," and "Pigtail Days in Old Seattle." She also donated books and funds to establish the Sophie Frye Bass Library at the Seattle Museum of History and Industry.
