Circa 1980 New England Patriots Vagas Ferguson #43 Game Worn / Used Road Jersey NNOB

After an All-American career at Notre Dame, Vagas Ferguson, was picked in the first-round of the NFL Draft by New England in 1980. He began his career by setting the Patriots rookie rushing record with 818 yards. The Patriots finished the 1980 season with a 10-6 record and the future looked promising. Unfortunately, despite his solid start, the Patriots fell to 2-14 the next year and head coach Ron Erhardt was fired. Controversial head coach Ron Meyer was brought in and led the Patriots to a 5-4 record and the AFC playoffs in the strike shortened '82 season. Unfortunately, Meyer was infamous for alienating his players and Ferguson was released due to friction with the new management after the season.

Ferguson played for both the Browns and the Oilers during the 1983 season, but never regained the magic of his rookie season. He didn't have a rushing attempt for either team.

Vagas Ferguson finished his career with the Chicago Blitz of the USFL. In 1984, Ferguson ran for 499 yards on 113 attempts, scoring 3 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 10 passes for 120 yards and 1 receiving touchdown.
