In 1871, the representatives of the Kolín Sokol decided to establish an orchestra during their unity. A collection was organized and at the committee meeting on August 23, 1871, its result was announced - 116 zlotys. and 65 kr. Teacher František Kmoch was appointed as the conductor of the orchestra, who had already been the "primate" of the six-member ensemble during the Sokol unit. Kmoch originally took over the instrumentation of Austrian military music. With their compositions and the involvement of half the orchestra in singing, the band got a completely new character. The first concert took place on May 15, 1872. At the time of its creation, it played an important role in strengthening the national feeling of the Czechs. Those who witnessed it have long remembered the popular concerts and celebrations in the falconry, on the square and on the island, which today bears Kmoch's name. The compositions Hoj Marenko, Jarabácek, Kolíne, Kolíne, Muziky, muziky, Pode mlejnem, Muj konícek, Na sribropenném Labi, as well as numerous sokol marches, became widely known.

The orchestra received great honors outside the city of Kolín for the first time on July 12-16, 1873, during the celebrations of the unveiling of the J. Jungman monument in Prague. The musicians led the parade through Prague, the orchestra played at the festive banquet in the Prague Town Hall and gave a two-day concert in front of the monument. František Kmoch was gifted by the then leaders of the nation, Fr. Palacký and FL Riegre with baton.
From 1873, Kmoch devoted himself fully to the activities in the band and ended his teaching service. The orchestra grew by several dozen young musicians at that time. He presented himself to the public in several forms - symphonic, brass or small groups for dance entertainment. At that time, musicians participated in many events throughout Bohemia and Moravia, mostly organized by Sokol. In 1884, Kmoch's music was performed in Kraków, Poland, later in Vienna, Budapest, and in 1896 in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, during the coronation of Tsar Nicholas II.
František Kmoch died at the age of 64 on April 30, 1912. Alois Vlasák took over the baton after the deceased conductor. Already in June and July of 1912, he led the band at the All-Sokol Gathering in Prague. Music played under Vlasák's baton until 1954. It is a respectable number of years, during which time he managed to raise the music to an even higher level. In 1922, the orchestra became the Music of the City of Kolín. On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the death of F. Kmoch, a concert of his compositions was organized on 14 August 1927 and this concert was broadcast live by Radio Journal. In 1937, the music won first place at the Cannes competition.

A Quick NOTE ON GRADING AND SHIPPING:

As you can see from my feedback, I try hard to earn your POSITIVE FEEDBACK and FIVE STAR RATINGS.

If for any reason your transaction was NOT SATISFACTORY, pls contact me and I will work something out with you. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE A REASON TO GIVE ME A NEGATIVE RATING or a LOW STAR RATING.

Quick note on grading:

The Grade (Excellent to Poor, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately

When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to P), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"EXCEPTIONALLY QUIET" is close to noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an above average quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example with some noise.

These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.
