Certified authentic ancient artifact. Struck at Antioch soon after the death of Constantine the Great, this GLORIA EXERCITVS issue was part of a major imperial program meant to secure military loyalty for the sons of Constantine during the early consolidation of power. The pellets flanking the standard indicate a specific Antioch officina control series dating to the first decade of Constantius II’s rule. These coins circulated heavily through Syria Judaea and Asia Minor during a period of major administrative reorganization in the eastern empire.
