John Nessy was born in Prague Bohemia in 1855 and emigrated to the U.S. when he was 40 years old in 1895. Soon after, in 1898, Nessy started professionally decorating for the Pickard Studio of Chicago leaving after some 20 years to work for a rival Studio, J.H. Stouffer & Co. Nessy many designs were usually of a Naturalistic style and painted numerous flowers, fruits, and nuts. He was well known for his "Deserted Garden" designs as well as for his very popular Fruit Panels. Allan Reed has a bio of Nessy in his Pickard Collectors Book.

This wonderful decorative bowl came from the Beverly Hills, CA estate. It's in a very clean and great, well preserved condition with gold gild mostly intact.
