As I am retiring from label collecting after 60 years of fun.  I enjoyed collecting labels all these years, and now it is time to share my hobby with others. I have focused collecting salmon labels for many years.

This FORT SUTTER salmon label is from the Robert McDowell Company, of Sacramento. California. The company has a history of being a wholesale grocer:
The printed date on the back of the label, is the date of the label trademark. Each printing company would hold a trademark label in their files, as proof the brand belongs to the company. This identification on this label, makes it "the official example" that the brand belongs to the company. Examples like this are rare to find, and worth keeping.

These type of labels were referred to as "private labels", where stores & food distributors had a direct manufacturing agreement with the salmon cannery, allowing retailers to bypass wholesalers and gain more control over quality & cost, leading to higher private margins. These type of private labels can be quite entertaining and fun to look at.

Winning bidder pays $ 7.50 shipping.

As I believe shipping charges should be cost-neutral as a business practice, I will reimburse any extra shipping charges back to the buyer.  I use the very best shipping materials, and will combine auction purchases when I can, to save you more money on shipping.

Thank you for your business ....
