 Upgrade your classic 1964–1972 GM A, F, and X Body vehicles with a complete Hydro-Boost Power Brake Conversion Kit, engineered to provide modern braking performance without relying on engine vacuum. This system is ideal for high-performance engines, engine swaps, or vehicles with low manifold vacuum.
Hydro-Boost System Advantages
 The Hydro-Boost system is powered by hydraulic pressure from the existing power steering pump and requires NO engine vacuum.

  • No small-bore master cylinder required
  • Increased firewall clearance and valve cover clearance
  • Increased frame-mounted clearance
  • Frame-mounted Hydro-Boost units are the same width as a master cylinder, providing additional exhaust and engine bay clearance
 The Hydro-Boost unit can be mounted anywhere a traditional vacuum booster will fit and is compatible with rubber or stainless braided hydraulic hoses (hoses not included).
How the Hydro-Boost Works
The Hydro-Boost system continuously utilizes hydraulic pressure supplied by the power steering pump.

Typical power steering pump output ranges from 800 PSI to 1400 PSI.
 
This pressure is converted into braking force applied directly to the master cylinder, resulting in powerful, consistent braking performance.
 
Hydro-Boost output is affected by three critical system factors:
  1. Pedal Ratio – Recommended 6:1 to 7:1
  2. Power Steering Pump Pressure Output
  3. Master Cylinder Bore Diameter
Proper matching of these components is required to ensure optimal braking performance.
⚠️Important System Cleanliness Notice
It is imperative that the hydraulic system is completely clean prior to installation.
 
Any residual metallic sediment remaining in an old power steering pump or steering box may circulate through the system during startup. If debris becomes lodged in the pump’s relief valve, it may result in:
  • Loss of hydraulic pressure
  • Hard steering
  • Loss of power brake assist
The power steering system should be flushed thoroughly before installing the Hydro-Boost unit.

Disc / Drum Proportioning Valve Functions
 This Disc / Drum combination proportioning valve is designed for vehicles equipped with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes and performs all required braking functions:
  • Reduces rear brake pressure to prevent rear wheel lock-up
  • Distributes braking force evenly between front and rear brakes
  • Maintains residual pressure for rear drum brakes
  • Includes a brake warning light switch to alert the driver in the event of hydraulic system failure
 This valve is a critical upgrade when converting from drum to disc brakes. While GM-style in design, it can be adapted to Ford, Mopar, Chevy, and other applications with the correct fittings.
