 Upgrade your classic 1970–1981 Chevy Camaro with a Hydro-Boost power brake system, offering modern braking power without relying on engine vacuum. This conversion kit is perfect for high-performance engines, engine swaps, or restorations where vacuum-assisted brakes are impractical.
 Hydro-Boost Advantages
 The Hydro-Boost system operates using hydraulic pressure from the existing power steering pump, meaning it requires no vacuum. This has several key benefits:
  • No vacuum pump needed for low vacuum or high-performance engines
  • No small-bore master cylinder required
  • Increased firewall clearance, valve cover clearance, and frame-mounted clearance
  • Frame-mounted Hydro-Boosts are the same width as a master cylinder, providing additional exhaust clearance and better fitment flexibility
 The system continuously uses hydraulic pressure from your power steering pump, which typically produces 800–1400 PSI. This pressure is converted into braking force that is applied to the master cylinder.
 Hydro-Boost output is dependent on three factors:
 Pedal Ratio: We recommend a ratio between 6:1 to 7:1
  1. Power Steering Pump Pressure Output
  2. Master Cylinder Bore Size
Proper calibration of these factors ensures optimal braking performance.
 System Cleanliness Requirement
 It is critical to ensure the system is free from contaminants.
  Any residual metallic sediment from old power steering pumps or steering boxes may circulate when the fluid starts flowing, potentially causing:
  • Loss of power steering assist
  • Loss of power brakes
  • Hard steering
 Any debris lodged in the pump’s relief valve will prevent the system from building pressure, affecting both steering and braking. Flushing the system before installation is essential for safe and reliable operation.
