The Sex Pistols are a punk band formed in London in 1975, considered by some sources to have started the punk movement in the United Kingdom and to have inspired many punk rock , heavy metal , and contemporary rock musicians in general. Their first phase lasted only two and a half years and produced just four singles and one studio album : Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols (1977). The original members of the Sex Pistols were vocalist Johnny Rotten , guitarist Steve Jones , drummer Paul Cook , and bassist Glen Matlock the latter replaced by Sid Vicious in early 1977.
