HAND-COLORED MACROPOSOPUS PRINT MATTED AND FRAMED

This famous image of God and his Shadow first appeared as the frontispiece to Volume I of Eliphas Levi's Dogme et Rituel de la Haute Magie (Dogma and Ritual of High Magic) in 1854. Along with Macroprosopus and Microprosopus, it reads "Quod superius sicut quod inferius" – "As above, so below" from the Hermetic Emerald Tablet; and "Stola Dei" – "Garment of God".

It is here framed in a vintage wooden frame with a matte. The image used here was a high-quality b&w reproduction from 1987 which has now been hand-colored.
