Steinbach 17" Chubby Golfer Nutcracker Volkskunst West Germany

Handcrafted wooden nutcracker by Steinbach Volkskunst of Hohenhameln, West Germany, a renowned Erzgebirge maker founded in 1858 and celebrated for traditional German folk art craftsmanship. Steinbach nutcrackers are individually hand-turned and hand-painted, with expressive faces and themed accessories that reflect classic regional carving traditions.

This example is the “Chubby Golfer” figure, featuring a red helmet-style cap with blue finial, painted facial details, natural hair and beard, yellow jacket, golf club, golf bag, and ball at the base. The underside is clearly marked “Original Steinbach Volkskunst aus Hohenhameln – Made in West Germany,” indicating production prior to German reunification in 1990.

Approximate height: 17 inches. Constructed primarily of wood with mixed materials for hair and accessories. Condition shows light age-related wear, including minor paint wear and small surface marks consistent with display. No cracks or structural damage observed. Accessories appear complete as shown.

A classic and highly collectible Steinbach character, well suited for collectors of German nutcrackers, Volkskunst, or mid- to late-20th-century holiday décor.
