Vinca Major, commonly known as Greater Periwinkle, is a vigorous evergreen ground cover plant renowned for its glossy foliage and delicate flowers. With its trailing stems and ovate leaves, Vinca Major forms a dense carpet of vibrant green that persists throughout the year.
In terms of size, Vinca Major typically grows to a height of around 30 to 45 centimetres (12 to 18 inches), while its trailing stems can extend up to 90 to 120 centimetres (35 to 47 inches) in length. This growth habit makes it an excellent choice for covering bare patches in gardens, stabilizing slopes, or adding a lush touch to shaded areas.
In late spring to early summer, Vinca Major produces charming, five-petaled flowers that come in shades of blue or violet, which contrast beautifully with the rich green foliage. This plant's ability to thrive in various soil conditions and shade levels, coupled with its low maintenance requirements, make it a popular choice for both novice and experienced gardeners seeking a versatile and attractive ground cover solution.

We don't provide the current size of our plants in the product description because they are constantly growing and changing with the seasons. In addition, we may trim our plants to encourage new growth, so their size can vary from day to day. We believe this is an essential part of caring for our plants and keeping them healthy. *This also means the flower/fruit months shown are for reference only and we cannot guarantee plants are sent with flowers.
We recommend selecting a pot size that fits your needs and the planting location; a larger pot will usually contain a larger plant. We are happy to provide up to date sizing on request.
Please note that the photos we provide are mostly of the plant's final dimensions or of their unique points of interest, such as flowers, which may only appear at certain times of the growing season. Therefore, they are often not representative of the size or exact plant you will receive.
Here are our most common pot dimensions for your convenience. Availability according to listed quantity.
We send all of our plants using the Royal Mail 48 service for delivery. It's important to note that this service does not guarantee delivery within 48 hours of dispatch. Please be aware that this is not a tracked service, although we will provide you with a tracking number. The tracking number will only update with information once a delivery attempt has been made.
We understand that receiving your plants in a timely and healthy manner is important to you, and it's important to us too. We aim to dispatch every order within three working days and usually package plants every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, ready for dispatch the next day.
Each of our plants is packaged in a cardboard box and secured at one end to limit movement and try to ensure safe travel; however, it is still possible for some planting material to become loose in transit.
