Vintage Hungarian Folk Embroidered Cloth Doll 1920s–30s


This is a vintage Hungarian folk-style cloth doll dating to the early 20th century (1920s–1930s). The doll features a tightly stuffed fabric body, a painted or tightly formed head with braided silk/rayon hair, and hand-embroidered floral attire inspired by Hungarian folk costume. The dress and apron are decorated with bright red, blue, yellow, and green embroidery in a style influenced by Matyó motifs, though not a strictly regional Mezőkövesd costume. The turquoise skirt has metallic trim, and the stockings are knit fabric with matching embroidered details. The shoes are red composition or early rubber.
