vintage Inuit carving by renowned Belcher Islands artist Lucassie Qittusuk (1908–1978). This multi-piece (3 pieces total) sculpture features a standing bear beside an igloo with wood stick details on a base. The underside platform base is inscribed “B.I.” for Belcher Islands (Sanikiluaq) and marked E9-103. Also stickered from renowned “the quest” gallery in the center.
This is a harder-to-find narrative piece, fully hand-carved and highly collectible.
Measures Approx:
- base measurements: 11” L x 6” at widest
- igloo measurements: 91/4” L x 5 3/4” width for larger igloo & 4” width for smaller igloo
- Bear Measurements: 3 1/2” wide x 6” Height
Total measurements: 11” L x 6 3/4” H x 6” at widest width & 3 1/2” at narrowest width
CONDITION: in good used condition that Displays beautifully. Minor surface wear from age on the bear, igloo and base; underside also has scratches. No major chips or structural damage noted. Wood pegs are not intact fully with some missing?
