Original 1986 Poland National Team World Cup Poster – “Polska w finałach Meksyk ’86” – Official PZPN Issue

You are bidding on a genuine, almost 40-year-old commemorative poster celebrating Poland’s participation in the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico. This is the iconic green-and-red “Polska w finałach Meksyk ’86” poster produced by the Polish Football Association (PZPN) in cooperation with Perspektywy magazine. It features the entire squad (including legends Zbigniew Boniek, Władysław Żmuda, Włodzimierz Smolarek, Józef Młynarczyk, Jan Urban, Dariusz Dziekanowski and many more) with their portraits set into giant red letters, plus the cheerful Mexican mascot Pique kicking a ball in a sombrero.

Condition – exactly as a 39-year-old poster should look:

• Nearly 40 years old (printed in 1986), so it shows honest signs of age: light edge wear, faint handling marks, and a bit of yellowing along the borders – all completely normal for 1980s Eastern-European paper stock.

• There is one small tear (approx. 3–4 cm / 1.5 in) on the left-hand white margin – clearly visible in photos 3 & 4. It does not affect the printed area and can easily be repaired or hidden when framed.

• No large rips, no water damage, no pin holes, no tape residue, no heavy creases. Colors remain remarkably bright and the poster has always been stored flat/rolled away from sunlight.

• Overall very displayable and, for its age, in strong collector-grade condition.

Size: approx. 61 × 87 cm (24 × 34 in) – standard large Polish poster format from that era.

Historical note: Poland finished 3rd in their group behind Argentina and Italy. Zbigniew Boniek scored the only Polish goal of the tournament, and this poster captures the last World Cup appearance of many heroes from the golden 1974 & 1982 generations.

Perfect piece of 1980s football nostalgia, Polish sports history, or World Cup memorabilia.
