Laureate draped and cuirassed bust of Septimius Severus right rendered in deliberately crude local style as typical for Petra’s early Severan issues.

Reverse:
Turreted Tyche seated left on rocky outcrop symbolic of Petra’s mountainous landscape.
She extends right hand and holds a small stele in her left.
All placed within a distyle temple representing the civic cult and monumental architecture of Petra.
Lettering partially retrograde a known variation recorded in Petra’s provincial series.
Description:
This bronze from Petra in the Decapolis shows the distinctive local engraving style used in Arabia Petraea under the Severan dynasty. The Tyche in temple type is one of Petra’s most iconic architectural reverses linking Roman civic imagery with the city’s Nabataean heritage. The Δ countermark adds additional historical value marking an official revalidation or monetary control event within the city. Variants with retrograde letters and crude die cutting are scarcer and highly sought after.
