The staple length is up to 11 inches but the bottom few inches will break off if pulled on. 

This is a great fleece for felting into a living rug. It is held together quite well. 

The locks are really long and beautiful. 

This is a ram fleece and it smells like a ram. It is also very dusty from rolling around like a ram. 

It is pretty clean tho there is vegetable matter, especially along the spine. 

Our fleeces are only lightly skirted, so it is possible to find taggy edges, vegetable matter, a few burrs in the outer coat, etc
