This sensor uses optical principles to measure turbidity through a combination of transmittance and scattering in a solution. The sensor contains a pair of infrared tubes. When light passes through a certain amount of water, the amount of light transmitted depends on the water's level. The dirtier the water, the less light is transmitted.

The light receiving end converts the intensity of the transmitted light into a corresponding current. Stronger light transmits a higher current, while weaker light transmits a lower current.

The turbidity sensor module converts the sensor's output current signal into a voltage signal, which is then processed by a microcontroller through A/D conversion.

The module has both analog and digital output interfaces. The analog value can be sampled by the microcontroller's A/D converter to determine the current level of water . The digital value can be adjusted using the module's potentiometer. When the turbidity reaches the set threshold, the indicator lights up, and the sensor module output switches from high to low. The microcontroller monitors this voltage change to determine whether the water turbidity exceeds the specified level and issues an alarm or triggers other devices. The module is inexpensive, easy to use, and has high measurement accuracy. It can be used to measure the degree of water pollution in washing machines, dishwashers, etc.; it can also be used in industrial site monitoring, environmental wastewater collection, and other occasions where turbidity detection and control are required.
