These are the Rosenthal Eloise Chippendale 7” bread plates. This is not the "Continental" pattern as those were made much later and in the US. These were made in the Selb Factory in Bavaria, Germany and the cartouche indicates that this was made for the US market.
This is truly a beautiful pattern with the chippendale scalloped edges trimmed with gold. The flowers and garland are so whimsical. What a great pattern for entertaining in the spring, a shower, or Mother's Day!
History on Brand Stamp: On the bottom, you will see the green cartouche brand stamp. The markings on the back with the words “ivory“, “Germany”, and “US patent app applied for” date this to 1928-early WWII. US retired a country of origin and not the region. Production stopped in Germany during WWII as Hitler took over Rosenthal factory for a period of time (and a different stamp). THis stamp stopped being in use during the war.
I have MANY other pieces of Eloise pattern. If you are interested in purchasing all of them, please message me.
