The African Widow c1830-1840 Rare African Americana

While supposedly written "for the relief of the wants of the poor Africans and Asiatic strangers" this tract perpetuated racist stereotypes of the time. Interesting in terms of how African Americans were portrayed at the time, even from sympathetic sources.


title page says "Suppose to have been written by the late Rev. Leigh Richmond."

Excellent condition, toning and foxing commensurate with age (close to 200 years now!!!) 
small rip at bottom of spine, no other rips, creases or bends.
String (binding) intact and in excellent condition
