This recent find comes from Estate of Retired BOEING & NASA Marshall Space Flight Center Aerospace Engineer that worked on the early Saturn/Apollo to Shuttle Missions - NOTE: After retirement previous owner was a Archives/Curator at "THE SPACE and ROCKET CENTER" (SPACE CAMP-Huntsville, AL.) where he also was able to obtain a large collection of purged archived items after notified original donors did not re-claim them. This listing is for a 1st Gen NASA MSFC APOLLO 1 GELATIN PHOTO with details below:
  • 1st Generation Silver Gelatin Black and White Photo
  • Appx. 8x10
  • April 1966 - taken during the astronaut's visit to NASA Marshall Space Flight Center for a 3 day study of their launch vehicle - Saturn IB Rocket - all three astronauts later died tragically less than one year later (January 1967) due to a fire on the launchpad during a test at Cape Kennedy
