Gents Tissot wrist watch, 1950.

The watch has a 15-jewel hand-winding movement, 27-1T, which is working nicely. The 27 base calibre was first produced in 1936, with several variations being available from 1949. The 1T has the Incabloc shockproof system.

The movement is signed Tissot and the serial number dates it back to 1953. The movement is protected by a clear inner lens.

The watch is a good wearable size for a 1950s piece, at 32mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the nicely shaped lugs. The main body of the case is chrome plated while the case back is stainless steel. There is marking commensurate with its age but the overall appearance is charming. The case back is signed with the Tissot name.

The lens is in lovely condition.

The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers. There is some light marking and discolouration.

A new leather strap has been fitted.
