Rolex Oyster Perpetual 6556 "Tru-Beat" Stainless Steel 34mm Rare Vintage Watch (1956)

The Rolex Oyster Perpetual 6556 "Tru-Beat" is one of the most fascinating and elusive references in Rolex’s history. Produced in the mid-1950s, this rare model was equipped with the experimental caliber 1040 movement, designed with a deadbeat seconds complication—an unusual feature that allowed the seconds hand to "tick" once per second, mimicking the motion of a quartz watch decades before quartz technology was introduced. Originally marketed to medical professionals for its precise time measurement, the Tru-Beat was produced in extremely limited numbers, making surviving examples highly sought after by collectors today.

This 1956 example features a 34mm stainless steel case, smooth bezel, plastic crystal, and an original Oyster rivet bracelet. While the Tru-Beat function is non-operational, the watch otherwise remains original, intact, and fully functional as a timepiece. With its historical importance, mechanical rarity, and very limited production, the 6556 stands as a true collector’s treasure and an investment-grade Rolex.

In very good vintage condition (8/10), showing light wear consistent with its age. Watch only, no box or papers. PM Number: PM4004760.
