The Cleveland Browns are a professional football team based in Cleveland, Ohio, competing in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the AFC North division. Founded in 1946 by coach Paul Brown (for whom the team is named), the Browns originally played in the All-America Football Conference (AAFC), where they dominated by winning all four league championships before joining the NFL in 1950.
