This listing is for a service to set the region code of a Japan market HM-DHX2 or an HM-DHX1 to region 1 to enable the playback of pre-recorded D-theater tapes that were region coded for playback in region 1 players. This essentially makes the player a HM-DH5U or HM-DH40000U respectively. Also included will be a general checkup of the mechanism, lubrication and head cleaning. I also do recapping. If the caps appear swollen or leaking a repair estimate will be provided.


Every region 1 tape with the exception of American Pie has been tested to play. (I only have a sealed copy of this tape)


This will involve sending the machine to me to perform the service.


Only the region code will be changed, menus and OSD will still be in Japanese.  Native playback of BS Hi-vision recorded tapes and internal decoding of AAC audio remains unaffected by this modification.
