"Trettau Bavaria" was a mark used by the Royal Tettau porcelain factory, located in Tettau, Bavaria, Germany. Because of the inclusion of the crown in the mark some refer to the line as "Royal Trettau"
Royal Tettau was founded in 1794. It is known as the oldest Bavarian porcelain factory. The factory was initially part of the Königlich privilegierte Porzellanmanufaktur Tettau (Royally privileged Porcelain Works Tettau). The name later became Porzellanmanufakur Tettau. While the factory has changed ownership throughout its history, it is still in operation today, currently owned by the Weiden Group. The factory produces a variety of porcelain items, including cups & saucers. Tettau porcelain is a type of Bavarian China known for the hard, thin, & translucent quality.
The "Trettau Bavaria" mark was used for highly collectible items, especially cup & saucer sets and dessert plates.
