Up for auction is an incredibly rare 2nd woodgrain printing of the original dungeons and dragons set. All of you serious bidders know how difficult it is to find a set in this nice a condition.  My experience has been that 2nd printings are far less seen than first prints, and auction records will back this up.  In nearly 40 years of playing and collecting, I have seen perhaps two or three 2nd printing sets in better condition than this one, so it is a unique opportunity for a lucky collector to acquire this holy grail item that represents a pinnacle of D&D collecting. 

Overall I'd rate this in very fine/excellent condition and some would call this near mint with the following detractions:

The woodgrain box is tight with slight bowing on the sides.  This is a very bright copy, with minimal rubs.....barely used, and stored well.  The front shows a couple dents in the box, and the side label has minor staining and a couple corners that have lifted, and one showing minor loss.

The inside contents are minty fresh.  All books have barely been used, let alone read.  Errata sheet is present, as are the reference sheets.  Reference sheets contain eight double sided pages, with two of them having been cut in half for play.  You can line the two half pages up to match.  No rips, tears, writing, etc. on the books or sheets beyond that.

No rust on staples, which is very common in these sets.

This has been in storage for 45+ years in a commercial storage locker and might have acquired a dry, musty smell prior to my acquisition that requires airing out and might not completely disappear. Items sold "as is"; no returns unless I missed something significant in the item description. I have 100% feedback and have sold many rare items over the past couple decades without incident.
