skiascope is a device used in ophthalmology to determine the refractive state of the eye. It works by shining a beam of light into the eye and observing the movement of retinal lights and shadows to assess the eye's refractive error, such as farsightedness or nearsightedness2The skiascope consists of a light source, a condensing lens, and a mirror, allowing the examiner to analyze how the light reflects off the retina3This method is particularly useful for quickly and accurately assessing the need for glasses without requiring much cooperation from the patient
